Trying To Find My Way Back…

Sooo much has happened since my last post. Its almost impossible to know exactly where I should begin lol

First things first I would like to say hello to all of my new followers.. I see yall! 🙂 Dont be too shy to comment. I love the feedback!

Second, I gave birth to my a beautiful healthy baby boy in January!

Did I go all natural like I contemplated in a previous post? HELL NO! Once those contractions I quickly and very aggressively very nicely asked to have that big long needle stuck in my back. No shame here! 😊

So on top of being a mommy to a very curious six year old and now a one month old– I am very exhausted and BLESSED but I have not had time to post. Have I been itching to get back? Of course! I have so much new content to share and a revamp is coming for the blog site. Im so excited to share these things with you in the near future!

Peace.

Bored With Your Hair?

Ive been there. Im probably in that place now. Ok. For certain Im in that place now. Ive mastered the art of keeping my hair moisturized and have perfected my sleep regimen. I have an abundance of products- some of which I have not opened. Ive tried every style in my now a little bit longer than an TWA fro and yet Im still bored!

For the past week Ive been rocking a twist out and figured that I would just let my hair do what it wants to do. And guess what? Its working! Who says that you have to style it everyday. I dont have time for it. I have teetered on the line of maybe getting it chopped into a tapered cut. But on the other hand- I want to get braids again.

All in all, Im figuring on just letting my hair does what it wants to do. Low manipulation, twist outs, water and oil. Thats it. Not to mention these prenatal vitamins are without a doubt aiding in the growth process!

While searching on YouTube, I found a cute tutorial on some easy styles for short natural hair (since Ive passed the TWA stage-Yipee!)

Check it out Below:

Giving Birth–Naturally?

Guess what!? Im am expecting!!! Super excited and blessed to be becoming a Mommy once again! Unlike, my first pregnancy where I wanted to feel as little to no pain as possible AND get it over with as quickly as possible— Ive been toying with the idea this time to go ALL NATURAL. Crazy, huh?

Some may ask why put myself through that pain? Do you understand what it was like the first time? You MUST be crazy! But in all actuality I cannot remember half of what went down the first time around. It was all a blur. I received an epidural. The nurse had to stick me three times before finding the right spot. And each of these sticks/pricks contained meds!

I was so doped that the process seemed quick, easy and painless (not quite but compared to others–i just felt a bunch of pressure) when in all actuality, I was in labor shy of 24 hours. Going in and out of sleep to finally be rushed to the OR for an emergency c-section. I met my son with tear filled eyes after he was ripped out of my lower half and placed in front of my eyes before i dozed off again (keep calm-my mother never took her eyes off of him) and woke up in a cold, dark room which they called “recovery.”  I cant even remember if the reason for the c-section was because he couldnt fit through my pelvis or because of the fact that I had just been in labor too long and was not fully dilated– See what I mean? I have alot of unanswered questions and I really wish that my time in labor, I could have been more alert.

During my most recent prenatal visit, my doctor informed me that my baby is breech. Yikes. However since I am only in my 29th week of pregnancy, there is still time for him to turn around. This may complicate things a bit more considering I am leaning towards the idea of a natural birth. Also coming into play is the fact that after you have a c-section, it can be difficult but not impossible to deliver vaginally.

Have any of you moms out there had a successful vaginal delivery after a c-section? What are some thoughts on natural birth versus epidurals etc?

Happy BIG CHOP Anniversary!!

SO its been a year now since I took the leap and did my BIG CHOP!! AHHHHHHHH! I still remember back to that day. Even though I would like to forget sometimes that it ever happened- it did and it changed me forever. This year has been and up and down and sometimes stagnant roller coaster ride for me on a physical and mental basis. I have learned so much about my hair and most importantly- MYSELF.

Needless to say, I have not been very active on here or any other social media sites. Ive totally fell off with updating but lets just say that Ive gotten a bit of motivation in the past few weeks and IM BACK. And Im back with a totally different vision and direction for this site. Please stay tuned for a major revamp and maybe even a name change in the very near future. Ive come to the conclusion that life is way too short to not do what you want. There is no certain niche that you have to stay in. No lane- Pave your own. And thats exactly what I intend to do.

In the meantime, I am going to continue blogging, reblogging, FB’ing (yea…that) and IG’ing (and that..) about everything Pretty and Natural. Whether the changes are subtle or suddenly, Im hoping that each of you (yes I still see the steady stream of visitors each day- THANK YOU!) stick along for this ride.

Until next time,

PEACE.

Embrace YOUR Textured Journey!

Ive touched on this topic before in 5 Things to Consider Before You Decide To Do the BIG CHOP!. But I see alot of people who comment on my Instagram page and lots of others about how they cant wait until their hair gets to a certain length. Its great to be inspired and aspire because that is what this blog is all about. But to be honest, having natural hair and maintaining it is a lot of work. And if you’re a natural then you know this is true!

I dont know about everyone else but Im enjoying every bit of my texture and every bit of each stage. I have found the perfect oil to keep it moisturized during the day and I have FINALLY mastered the art of PROPER detangling. I love trying out new products to see what works for me and experimenting with new ways to style my TWA. I CAN wait to reach that lengthy stage because in all actuality I feel as if Ill be learning my hair all over again. And its taken me almost a year to perfect this stage. LOL

Im saying all this to say-Embrace YOUR Textured Journey. Learn what works for you hair and perfect a regimen thas good for you.

Peace!

Job Hunting: Should you press your Natural tresses?

So I have the daunting task of searching for a new job. Anybody that has been in this position knows that this can be nerve racking! The idea of waking up each day and checking your inbox to see if anyone has gotten back to you. Or applying for hundreds of jobs that you think you may qualify for but not one of those companies gives you a callback. The process can lead you to drink. Seriously.

When I started, I was faced with a number of questions: How will they react to my hair? Should I straighten it? Push it back with a headband? Do I wear a wig? Will my hair affect me not getting this position? Will I catch them looking at my hair? And YES! All of these questions flew through my head at the same damn time.

I quickly pushed all of these thoughts out of my head because:

1. I LOVE my hair.

2: Theres no way Im going to apply heat to my hair everyday especially when Ive been on a no heat strike since July.

3. I dont have any extra money to buy a wig- not a good one anyway! Lol

4. My resume speaks for itself. If I can be passed over for a position because of my hair then I wasnt meant to work for that company anyway. (Cocky much? I guess. Lol)

In other words, the answer to all of my questions: I dont care. No. No. No. I dont care. I dont care. Lol

Let me hear from you! Any others have reservations about how their natural hair affects their professional appearance? I wanna know!

MPN Detox Bath

Dealing with a full work load, a inquisitive little boy and trying to start and maintain a business is VERY challenging. I wanted to relax and unwind after a stressful day and I thought to myself ‘I havent taken a bath in awhile.’ I normally just jump in the shower everyday- Quick fast and get it out of the way but theres NOTHING like a nice hot bath to sooth the soul. The ingredients for this detox bath are easy and most of us have these things laying around the house and tucked away in the cabinets and closets anyway.

1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar

1/2 cup of baking soda

1 cup of epsom salt

5 to 8 drops of lavender essential oil

A glass of your favorite wine (optional- and this does NOT go in the tub lol)

Personally, I like my bath water to be scorching hot from the start. I let it cool a bit, lit a couple of candles, turned on my shower speaker and jumped right in. I could immediately feel the effects. Together each component works together to eliminate pain, improve your immune system, relieve stress and leave your skin silky smooth. Like with any detox bath- the ingredients are meant to draw impurities out and will without a doubt leave you with a feeling of fatigue. Its best to use this detox before turning in for the night. Ive made a promise that I will use this detox method twice a month.

If you have any other ways you like to detox then please share and after you try this one, please come back and share your experience.
