Ive been there. Im probably in that place now. Ok. For certain Im in that place now. Ive mastered the art of keeping my hair moisturized and have perfected my sleep regimen. I have an abundance of products- some of which I have not opened. Ive tried every style in my now a little bit longer than an TWA fro and yet Im still bored!
For the past week Ive been rocking a twist out and figured that I would just let my hair do what it wants to do. And guess what? Its working! Who says that you have to style it everyday. I dont have time for it. I have teetered on the line of maybe getting it chopped into a tapered cut. But on the other hand- I want to get braids again.
All in all, Im figuring on just letting my hair does what it wants to do. Low manipulation, twist outs, water and oil. Thats it. Not to mention these prenatal vitamins are without a doubt aiding in the growth process!
While searching on YouTube, I found a cute tutorial on some easy styles for short natural hair (since Ive passed the TWA stage-Yipee!)
Check it out Below:
Since going back natural, I have read that sometimes your hair can change in texture. Just as soon as I was getting used to being a cool 4C. I discovered that its actually changing into more of a 3C/4A/4C with a couple of annoying 2A pieces in there. Im not too certain on whether this has something to do with my change in regimen or my experiment with new products but I may as well embrace it!
Whats your hair type or types? And have you been experiencing any changes? Please share!
Last month I told yall that I would certainly be waiting and ready to catch me a VIP curlBOX Membership this month. Well! I just received that good ol’ faithful monthly email saying that Membership will be opening up THIS Saturday at 3pm EST! Anybody who has been waiting to get one- Dont miss your chance this weekend!
Do yall remember this past summer when Beyonce revealed her short pixie cut to the public? The cut was totally different from the long free-flowing locks we’ve always saw her rock. And I admit, I loved the new look on her!
Beyonce’s Pixie Cut
Fast forward to 5 days later, that exact cut is what I envisioned my hair to look like as I sat down in the chair to endure the first snip. Now you may be thinking, “What?” or “How/” or “Who lied to you!?” …. Truth is I told myself I would get a cute little pixie cut and rock that all free and natural and I would have little wisps of hair blowing when I walked! NOT! I had a bunch of kinky, curly fuzzy hair all over the top of my head and I couldn’t help but think, “What the FCUK did I do!?” In my previous post, “I Am Not My Hair”, I explained that it took me a few days to be fully comfortable with my newly found freedom. But to be honest, the real is way better than your expectations!
Now, I’m not one to try to convert you back to natural or persuade anyone into anything. This post is completely about MY journey and what is working for me. The freedom that comes along with rocking your natural hair is liberating, empowering and as my co-worker puts it “Its my middle finger to the man!” LOL! Natural hair is so versatile and to be honest at this point in my life, it’s as low maintenance as it comes. Perhaps I will not be saying this once I retain a bit more length but as for now, I’m rocking with it!
The moral is: Sometimes reality can exceed your expectations. Take risks.
Lets face it- after the Big Chop your style choices are pretty limited. I have been toying around with the idea of color, chopping it again and racking my brain to figure out what else I can do to set my Big Chop off!
I came across this picture of Solange Knowles a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with her part!
So last night for my besties holiday party, I tried it out!
To create this look, I simply co-washed me hair in the shower. After getting dressed I rewet my hair with water from my spray bottle, used the Ancient Secrets Hair Oil, and applied some of Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding to my entire fro. This method is also known as the LOC method- meaning Liquid, Oil and Creme.
After that regimen I took my rat tail comb and started from crown and worked my way down to my edges to create the side part. Not only was it fun, quick and easy but I got a load of compliments from my friends!
What are some of the ways that you style your TWA?
So you wait and wait and finally you get that monthly email that says ‘Get your curlBOX membership this Saturday at 3pm!’ *does a little jig* Yesss! Im finally in there!!
And then Saturday rolls around and you’re ready- refreshing the site and on GO for when the clock strikes 3.
Insert- whiny child, naptime and the impromptu visit from your Dad and before you know it, its 3:30. But you think to yourself- Maybe I still have a chance! You refresh the site once more to read….
And you cry!!! Ladies this has been a recurring episode in my house on a monthly basis! I just want IN! Why cant I enjoy all the products and goodies that this magical box beholds!? Why cant I partake in the joy of having a monthly gift sitting on my doorstep when i return from a stressful day at work!?
Im so saddened at this point. All I can do is wait. Next month im gonna be ready. Bet that!
