Ive been there. Im probably in that place now. Ok. For certain Im in that place now. Ive mastered the art of keeping my hair moisturized and have perfected my sleep regimen. I have an abundance of products- some of which I have not opened. Ive tried every style in my now a little bit longer than an TWA fro and yet Im still bored!
For the past week Ive been rocking a twist out and figured that I would just let my hair do what it wants to do. And guess what? Its working! Who says that you have to style it everyday. I dont have time for it. I have teetered on the line of maybe getting it chopped into a tapered cut. But on the other hand- I want to get braids again.
All in all, Im figuring on just letting my hair does what it wants to do. Low manipulation, twist outs, water and oil. Thats it. Not to mention these prenatal vitamins are without a doubt aiding in the growth process!
While searching on YouTube, I found a cute tutorial on some easy styles for short natural hair (since Ive passed the TWA stage-Yipee!)
Check it out Below:
SO its been a year now since I took the leap and did my BIG CHOP!! AHHHHHHHH! I still remember back to that day. Even though I would like to forget sometimes that it ever happened- it did and it changed me forever. This year has been and up and down and sometimes stagnant roller coaster ride for me on a physical and mental basis. I have learned so much about my hair and most importantly- MYSELF.
Needless to say, I have not been very active on here or any other social media sites. Ive totally fell off with updating but lets just say that Ive gotten a bit of motivation in the past few weeks and IM BACK. And Im back with a totally different vision and direction for this site. Please stay tuned for a major revamp and maybe even a name change in the very near future. Ive come to the conclusion that life is way too short to not do what you want. There is no certain niche that you have to stay in. No lane- Pave your own. And thats exactly what I intend to do.
In the meantime, I am going to continue blogging, reblogging, FB’ing (yea…that) and IG’ing (and that..) about everything Pretty and Natural. Whether the changes are subtle or suddenly, Im hoping that each of you (yes I still see the steady stream of visitors each day- THANK YOU!) stick along for this ride.
Until next time,
Ive touched on this topic before in 5 Things to Consider Before You Decide To Do the BIG CHOP!. But I see alot of people who comment on my Instagram page and lots of others about how they cant wait until their hair gets to a certain length. Its great to be inspired and aspire because that is what this blog is all about. But to be honest, having natural hair and maintaining it is a lot of work. And if you’re a natural then you know this is true!
I dont know about everyone else but Im enjoying every bit of my texture and every bit of each stage. I have found the perfect oil to keep it moisturized during the day and I have FINALLY mastered the art of PROPER detangling. I love trying out new products to see what works for me and experimenting with new ways to style my TWA. I CAN wait to reach that lengthy stage because in all actuality I feel as if Ill be learning my hair all over again. And its taken me almost a year to perfect this stage. LOL
Im saying all this to say-Embrace YOUR Textured Journey. Learn what works for you hair and perfect a regimen thas good for you.
Since going back natural, I have read that sometimes your hair can change in texture. Just as soon as I was getting used to being a cool 4C. I discovered that its actually changing into more of a 3C/4A/4C with a couple of annoying 2A pieces in there. Im not too certain on whether this has something to do with my change in regimen or my experiment with new products but I may as well embrace it!
Whats your hair type or types? And have you been experiencing any changes? Please share!
The LOC Method has been proven over time to help your hair retain moisture. In my previous post, I said that once you Big Chop your hair can become very dry. The LOC Method is a sure-fire way to keep your tresses moisturized. I practice these steps in the morning when I wake up and repeat these steps before I go to bed.
The Lis for LIQUID. I keep a spray bottle filled with water. So Im ready to spritz at any time of the day. And when Im at work, everytime I use the restroom, I throw some water in my hair. Lol
The O is for OIL. I am a firm believer that my Ancient Secrets Hair Oil is whats giving me the tremendous growth on my hair. And until you’ve seen what my hair looked like before as in comparison to now- You cant tell me ANY different. The ingredients in this magical mixture include: Aloe Vera, T- Tree oil, Jojoba, Ginger, Organic Coconut, Egyptian Basil, Egyptian Fennel and Olive Oil. Each of these essential oils is broken down to prevent any irritation or burning to the skin.
The C is for Creme or Cream. This can mean many different things to many different people. Ive found what works for me and is Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding. Just a dollop of this on my hair will leave it feeling soft and lightweight all day! Not to mention it smells great!
Using these three things daily has made an impact on the health of my hair and the way it looks and feels. If practiced regularly, you can begin to see the difference too.
Any of my fellow naturalistas follow this method? What products do you use? Please share!
So last night, I grabbed my scissors and started chopping away!! Just at the sides and bit off the top. I havent quite refined the style yet but I will show you pics when Im done. Anybody else having a hard time staying away from the scissors? Lol
